Best place to stay in St. Maarten no question!

spacer You definitely get what you pay for and in this case, you will be extremely pleased. This will be one time you will say to yourself...wow! Finally the beautiful pictures does the place justice. My best friend and I stayed in one of the marina view two bedroom townhouses. We each wanted our own bedroom and en suite bathroom. This place was amazing and I highly recommend it. One thing you will notice is that many of the places are vacant (and I don't think it is just because we came during low season). My educated guess is that many of the villas (especially ocean front) are owned my multi millionaires that do not rent their units out and come down periodically. One of the townhouse units like the one we stayed in is currently for sale and when I looked into buying the unit, the sheer expenses in terms of condo fee, utilities, maid service, security etc. we're astronomical. So hopefully this gives you a flavor of how high end this place is. One thing you will definitely appreciate is that it is completely gated and you feel extremely secure and there are security guards that regularly patrol the area. Like many Caribbean islands, the best and high end places are always gated and this is something you should look for. Mom course just like the pictures show, everything is very high-end...the furnishings, the kitchen and bathroom appliances, the flat screen TV's in both bedrooms and family room...everything is great. We decided to cook a lot because we purchased fresh fish on a regular basis and enjoy cooking and I have to tell you that we really appreciated all the high end appliances and the full size kitchen. It was also great to have your own washer and dryer! So keep this in mind when you are comparing this to some of the resorts as you won't have to bring as much clothing and you can wash all your clothes everyday if you want. Both upstairs and down star had beautiful decks overlooking the water and the glass door panels that completely fold up and open if you want to. We actually were happy we ended up with the townhouse. Originally we were going for one of the ocean front villas, but because of the Sargasso seaweed problem, we never went on this beach. Like everyone stated already, this seaweed is a MAJOR PROBLEM!!!! There is actually a article about it that they keep on the coffee table for you to read that is dated back from 2011, so this has been a major problem for years now. Research Sargasso seaweed...it is basically floating seaweed that hits the beaches in MASSIVE AMOUNTS. This seaweed isn't inches high...it can be feet high...it is brown and ugly and stinks!!! There are all kinds of theories (some say climate change...some say gulf oils spill etc.) why they are getting this seaweed...but it makes the beach extremely ugly and smelling. Like what others have said, they actually have a bulldozer that comes out DAILY trying to plow this stuff off to the side to no avail. There is really nothing that can be done. But again, to my earlier comments, can you imagine the costs incurred everyday paying someone with this bulldozer to do this? It's crazy! So, we went to that beach once for 10 minutes and never went back. Like others have suggested, I think you would be a fool not to rent a car. If you are going to spend any time (even just a couple of days), you need a car to explore the island. It is such a small island, you can go around the entire island in under one hour! We tried every beach and I would recommend Orient beach. Someone recently le another review and said there are too many tourists at Orient Beach, but we found this beach had significantly less seaweed than any of the other beaches (and we went to ALL of the beaches as we were here for a very long time). The thing about Orient beach it is a very long stretch of beach and some areas are better than others...but as you walk closer to the nude area (and you certainly don't have to go that far and even if you do, you don't have to take your clothes off), we found the water to be the clearest and the sand was gorgeous...the nudist part had NO SEAWEED. You will really enjoy the accommodations at the townhouse and they supply everything. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash is a nice high end brand (not sure if I can mention the brand but you will be happy with it). There is daily maid service and they do everything from laundry, the dishes (although you have a dish washer etc.), making the beds etc. we did find our cleaning lady to be a bit nosy though and there were a couple of times where she would knock on the door and I would say, we are about to leave in 5 minutes and she would look mad (like she had to wait), and I would just let her in so she could get started. She made a comment the other day like...I have other places to clean etc. and we were put off by her comment a bit and thought...well go clean those first then and come back here lol. The gym is just ok. I use an elliptical machine back home... this one gets the job done (there is only one), but it is noisy which gets on your nerves a bit. There is also a treadmill, a bike, circuit weights and another room with a TV and dad player so you can watch exercise programs etc. No one ever uses the gym so no worries there. You go in, turn on the lights and turn the AC on and there you go. One last bit of advice...the cable is extremely frustrating. If you just use the remote to channel up and down, you will literally only get like 4 channels. About midway of our trip, we started to manually put in numbers like 110 and 112 instead of channeling up and we finally got well known channels. Must play around with a bit because there are more channels than you may think. When you get there, you will be given a clicker to use everyday for the security gate to drive in and park your car (again another reason to get a car and make sure you get the car at the airport) and we also got two sets of keys. You will be given a code to get through the pedestrian security doors when you want to go to the beach or use the gym etc. The ocean front villas have private pools and the marina view townhouses shared a pool. It's a very nice pool that also overlooks the marina and has an infinity edge and nice loungers and patio furniture around so it is a nice area. Again, if you only need two bedrooms, I would seriously recommend that you get a Marina view as the beach sucks because of the seaweed and the terrible smell and the marina view is gorgeous with all the sailboats in the marina to view. So they are a bit less expensive too. The Wi-Fi is good except was horrible, very horrible actually in the Master bedroom...so I just don't think the Wi-Fi got there like the rest of the townhouse. Mosquitos can be a problem at night when you want to sit out by the water, but the resort puts out a guest bag when you arrive with mosquito repellant, nuts, and cookies which I think is a nice touch. So again, I highly recommend!!!! We drove around and looked at some of the other resorts we were considering and I have to tell you, nothing compares...truly, nothing compares. So if you want the ultimate in privacy yet be near everything this can't be beat with only approximately 20 units in the resort...this surely beats a complex of 100 plus rooms!!! Getting around the island is extremely easy. You don't need a GPS. Just follow the signs for Oyster Pond or The Westin ( that resort is very nearby) and you will get there very easily!!! You will love it!

All Expectations Surpassed at the Coral Beach Club

spacer We stayed in #15, the Scallop townhome. Absolutely loved our stay. The townhouse was beautifully decorated with expansive living space. We were welcomed to the condo with a tote bag that held French wine, Dutch cookies, assorted nuts and bug repellent (what a thoughtful touch!). Kitchen was stocked with everything necessary (dishes and utensils, etc). We cooked meals at home most evenings and had all the cookware needed. Furnishings were comfortable and appropriate. Windows overlooking the Bay are floor to ceiling and fold in to open the space up to the outdoors. All bathrooms were clean and airy. Bedroom (we used only the master, although there was a beautiful second bedroom) was roomy, king bed was extremely comfortable. Plenty of closet space in the walk-in. Community was gated and security personnel were often seen, dutifully minding the grounds. All staff were helpful and personable. Dawn Beach was lovely, although weedy, so we often drove our rental to other beaches. The infinity swimming pool was right next to our townhouse, and we used it almost daily. It was always clean and a perfect temperature. The area of Oyster Bay in which the Coral Beach Club is located is beautiful and everyone we came across was friendly. We visited the small market next door frequently. We hope to come back to stay here again soon, as the Coral Beach Club surpassed every expectation we had. Room Tip: Rent a car- explore the island. We visited different beaches each day we were there!

Great Location
gold star
spacer Coral Beach Club is a good vacation rental for young adults and maybe two couples. The location is great near Dawn Beach right between the French side and the Dutch side of the Island. We had a townhouse that was beautiful inside and out. Deck on the lower floor where we ate breakfast every morning and a very large balcony we relaxed on at night. The view from our townhouse was of the harbor and we loved watching the boats but a short walk away was the beach and some very nice bars and restaurants. There was a washer and dryer that really came in handy and of course they had every appliance and utensil you could possibly need. There was a very nice welcome basket with coffee and goodies but if you needed anything else there was a store just steps away. The service was wonderful and everybody was very friendly and eager to help. I am not sure if all the townhouses are the same but the bedrooms were both upstairs and a little difficult to navigate to in the dark. The floors were all beautiful travertine and the fixtures were all very upscale. We were able to park our rental jeep right in front of the door in a gated parking area so safety and security were never an issue, however they do have a safe in the room but its not screwed down to anything so what is the point? We are already recommending this place to friends and family!
