Excellent accommodation

We stayed iin Marea's apartment for 2 weeks. It had everything we needed & then some! It is close to everything if you like to walk yet the subway is just round the corner. Lots of great restaurants & parks close by. We loved it & hope to return in the near future

I just want to say thank you so much for your hospitality during our week in NYC. You have a wonderful apartment, that is so close to everything. Your hints about restaurants were invaluable (next time we will definately try One if by land, two if by Sea!!)It was a real pleasure to come home each evening to such a welcoming and comforting place. The garden is great although we couldn't use it too much in December!!(save that for next time)
Thanks also for giving us so much information prior to our visit that enabled us to make an informed decision about bringing our electric wheelchair to your apartment - which we did, and found it very manageable with the two strong men we brought with us!
So thanks again, and hopefully see you soon.

New York Experience

My sister, aunte and myself stayed at Marea's lovely apartment while we enjoyed a "girls week" in NYC. The apartment was spacious with every amenity we needed and more and the location was central whether we were walking, using the metro or taking a taxi. It is my pleasure to highly recommend it to anyone looking for a real New York experience.

We had a great time in New York and that was very much depending on Marea and staying in her apartment. After a busy day just walking the streets of NY or visiting Top of the Roc, Macys, Bloomingdale, Broadway, Apple Store etc. it was really nice to return to Mareas apartment. I, my wife and our three boys can really recommend staying at Mareas apartment. It is beautiful, quiet and clean. And Marea, thank you for your tips what to do during our week in New York.

First of all let me say: MAREA, youre such a great and notable person; when a conversation belongs to NYC and our apartment we always have to speak about you! And believe me, its in an enthusiastic way!
The apartment was very warm and charming. It was very clean and comfortable. But most of all we enjoyed that beautiful garden. That is something really unique. We had breakfast every morning at this wonderful place and there was everything provided in the kitchen to prepare all you need.
Everything was absolutely outstanding and we will return as soon as possible.

Gracious Hosts

From the moment we arrived late at night to a week later when we departed in the early dawn, this aparment was exactly what we needed for our stay in Manhattan. Marea and her family are gracious hosts who truly care that you enjoy the aparment and the city.
The apartment is exceptionally quiet and convenient to public transportation and all the city has to offer. Marea provides enough details, personal favorites, and guide books for anyone to enjoy her great city.
The air conditioning, comfortable seating, and fridge and microwave was much appreciated even though we escaped the now infamous heat wave - the courtyard is a sublime and rare treat in NYC.
I'd definitely return again, and would send anyone to this great apartment.

My family and I loved staying at Marea's. The apartment was very comfortable, beautifully furnished and a lovely haven to return to at the end of a busy day. Each morning we would sit in the garden with coffee and bagels and plan our day ahead. It was truly a home from home and we can't wait to return. Our stay in Mareas apartment was fabulous. The apartment was roomy and very quiet. I have stayed in many different hotels in New York City and much prefer the apartment to the small hotel rooms. The apartment was very nicely furnished and I especially appreciated the nice linens and cleanliness of everything. There were six of us and we used both apts. Staying here gave our daughters a better idea of what it would be like to live in the city. The area surrounding the apartment seemed very safe and we enjoyed the nice coffee shops and easy access to the subway and buses. We would definitely stay here again on another trip.

The Right Choice

When the door opened to Marea's smile and the charming bright apartment with a surprisingly beautiful garden we knew that we had made the right choice for our week long stay in N.Y
There were only 2 of us, with room for many more. We set our laptop up on the large dining room table and found the wireless sevice perfect for keeping up with our business at home.
Marea provides a large selection of eating places and transpoortation and tour information. We used her "Frommer's NY" as well as the Zagat guide. Everything was clean and comfortable. We ate out except for breakfast, which we found a few steps away.
Gene came down to adjust the TV. We are planning our next stay, but are aware that we must book far in advance. Thank you, Marea, we will always remember your charm and efficiency.

Hi Marea! Just wanted to contact you to let you know how much we thoroughly enjoyed your apartment. Our Irish relatives couldn't believe we found a place in NY city that could accommodate us all so comfortably. It was perfect. We loved the garden area and the fact that we all could eat breakfast around the table in the morning. Several of my family plan on contacting you again in the future to stay here when on vacation. We had a wonderful time in NYC. The apartment was central to everything that we wanted to do and see. It was close to the subways, and getting a taxi was very easy too. Considering a place to stay and call home while in NY for pleasure? Look no more! Marea's Garden Apartment is the best! The location and comforts of home were welcoming, especially to a family of 4 (2 adults 2 teenagers). The location is perfect for the subway, hailing a cab, taking the bus or finding a corner market or bagel shop! We will keep Marea's Garden Apartment in mind when we make a return trip in the future!

Over the past number of years we have stayed in a number of houses and apartments while on vacation - our standards are very high. To be honest from the photographs etc. on the web site I wasnt sure if this apartment met our standards (we are a very design orientated family). However as soon as we walked into the apartment we felt completly at home. There are 4 of us, myself and my wife and our 15 year old son and 12 year old daughter - the place worked wonderfully for us. The sleeping arrangements proved to be ideal. The location is wonderful - with the 6 subway you are uptown or downtown in minutes. Around the apartment are great little places to pick up breakfast etc., there are cheaper but good reasturants (right beside Curry Hill)and there are more expensive really good reasturants just a block away. We will certainly come back and have recommended this place to a few of our friends already. You felt as if you were living in NY rather than just visiting. Go ahead book it- you won't be disappointed. (and yes i realise that i have made spelling mistakes)

This apartment is in the perfect location if you
want easy access to any and all amenities but
prefer your accommodations to be in a quiet
neighborhood. It is located in the middle of a
residential block and is in the rear of the
building so there is virtually no outside noise.
Plenty of closet space for a long stay, nice
supply of bed and bath linens and all very
clean. There are plenty of restaurants,
groceries, drugstores and shopping within a
three block radius. The #6 subway train is only
2 short blocks away so you can get to any part
of Manhattan or the other boroughs without
standing out in the cold (or heat) trying to flag a taxi. And, the owners are very nice!

We had a wonderful time in New York City, and the apartment for perfect for our needs (3 adults and two children). We loved the location--we did not pay a taxi fair for more than $10.00 and we went all over the city. Marea is very nice and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.

I researched several places in NYC before deciding on this beautiful, cozy apartment. The owner was very helpful with city information and made our stay feel like home. The garden was much bigger than I expected, and a terrific place to enjoy the hums of NYC. Although the apartment was on the ground floor, it was safe, private and exceptionally quiet. I would highly recommend this rental not only for its great location and charm, but also because of the gracious owners who made our experience worthwhile.

Home away from home for a week or two was perfection. Loved that it's a stone's throw from the Broadway theatres, the terrific shopping and a few stops on the subawy, from Central Park... I felt like a Princess in the elegant and spacious apartment and would return in a minute.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in Manhatten.The appartent was ideal and suited us all as a large family, especially with the annexe as well.The children found the whole experience amazing, and we packed so much into the week! The appartment was so close to all the sightseeing spots, and the subway just around the corner. We all had a truly wonderful time, and thanks to Marea for making our stay so comfortable and welcoming.

Had a truely excellent week 1st week in December 2008 staying in this apartment,accommodation was great & its situation for seeing the sights, couldn't be beaten. Marea made us feel extremely welcome, her "inside" knowledge of the immediate area amd more, was so beneficial. We have recommded this accommodation to friends who are staying there in January 2009, and we ourselves very much hope to revisit in the near future. You will not be disapponited should you reserve the apartment or annex, at 118 30th East Street for your vacation in New York City.

Just back from a very memorable stay at Mareas townhouse in manhattan, the apartment and the suite suited our family so well, my son and two daughters all stayed in the duplex whilst myself and my husband stayed in the apartment, we all got together in the mornings in the lovely large living room to plan our day ahead and at the end of the day after all our sightseeing spent in end of the evening in front of the fire watching the tv, it suited us fine. Location was ideal subway within a mintues walk and 5th Ave just a moment away, had breakfast at penelopes on the corner, it was lovely, bluesmoke for bbq also very good all recommended by Marea. Thankyou so much for letting us stay in your lovely apartment and when we come back to New York we are sure to stay again. Only downside was only one shower but we managed and it didnt hold us up too much even with two grown up daughters, thanks again The Hynes family from England

Plent of room for everyone

My wife and 3 kids stayed here last week and had a great time. We stayed in the apartment, my dad and wife's brother and girlfriend stayed in the 2 room duplex. There was plenty of room for everyone and the living accomadations were fantastic. The outdoor patio was landscaped nicely and great to have. I grew up in NY and this was the first time for my family to visit the "Big Apple" and we all had a trip of a lifetime. The place is located in a very nice and safe part of Manhattan that is tree lined and quiet. There were restuarants, stores, and transportation all nearby. Marea was a wonderful and delightful host. She has provided a lot of useful information for her guests who have never been to Manhattan and for those who have. Based on the fun we had we plan on coming back next year and will most definetly be back at this great place. Once again I'd like to thank Marea for making our NY stay very fun and memorable. We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday with her mother and her sister's family -- 9 people for a week in the Big Apple. If you've got a large group, there is no better deal in NYC than Marea's apartment, so book it early. You truly "live like a New Yorker," with the subway, funky shops and restaurants, and a zombie hobo all right around the corner. WE LOVED IT! Our girls, 10 and 12, were particularly impressed. It's great to have your own apartment to crash at rather than a stuffy and expensive hotel. And Marea is a great hostess -- helpful but unobtrusive. We'll be back!

Back in Sydney safe and sound. Katya,the youngest, is actually back at school. Tania and I are still a bit jet-lagged after all our flying but it's getting less each day.
A big thankyou once again. Our stay in NY was fantastic, made even more so by staying with you. Your apartment is excellent and so well located. As recommended, Tania and I had a cocktail in the Rainbow Room on our last evening. Clear skies and a fantastic sunset.
All the restaurants we tried from your list were great. As a couple of additions in terms of those which are close, the Banc on the corner of East 30th and 3rd is very good. Excellent bar for a drink as well, although Friday is very crowded. Just along from this, between 29th and 28th is a little bar called Makers, no food and a very basic bar but we found the barmen there excellent. I'm a bit more inclined to the simple small bars whereas others may not. A bit further a field, Tavern on Jane, West Vi llage (just off 14th) is excellent for a weekend brunch/lunch.
Once again thankyou. We will certainly be recommending your place to all our friends and acquaintences contemplating a holiday in NY.

Great location, i.e., close to subways, good eats, shopping and attractions. We take annual trips together and this trip beat all trips that we've taken in the past 16 years of vacationing together. Marea provided us with great tips and suggestions. We definitely will be coming back and hopefully if available will be able to stay at Marea's. Her place gets taken up fast. My husband and I get to New York about 4 times a year and rent apartments each time. This was absolutely the best place. We celebrated his birthday with friends, dinner in the garden was perfect. We were greeted, made to feel welcome and knew we could ask questions if needed. A great place for those visiting New York for the first time or for those who love the city.

We stayed with our whole family of eight people in the townhouse and it could easily accomodate us. Enough rooms and space for everyone. We really enjoyed our vacation in NYC and we had a great time. We stayed at this apartment during our family's week long visit to NYC. This apartment is very conveniently located. We can be midtown, uptown, downtown and crosstown in no time. The place itself is very clean and has that old charm. Marea was such a gracious host. We really enjoyed her warm hospitality. Gigi and Leoni were both very friendly and accommodating too. We absolutely enjoyed our stay here and will definitely look to stay here again when we go back to New York city in the future. It is also surrounded by many good restaurants. We especially liked Jaiya Thai, Iron Sushi and Mishima. And the bagels at Dunkin Donuts! Thank you again, Marea!
