Views are to die for

spacer Marty, We did indeed have a wonderful time for the entire time we were in Akumal. Your condo is beautiful and seeing other condos and houses in Akumal during our stay made us appreciate #5 even more! We particularly appreciated the Mexican decorations, the spaciousness of the living area, the fabulous breezes from being on the far North end of Half Moon Bay, and of course the views that are to die for. We found everything we needed in the condo.

Condo was not at all hot in late June

spacer Given my wistfulness over the fading of the 'real' QR, I hope I haven't given the impression we were unhappy with the condo. Not the case at all! It was another of QR's gems for us. I'm soooo glad we didn't go for some A/C-ed soulless box. Iguana #5 is simply wonderful. I love the layout: that sunken living room that maximizes the view of the beach, and the way every room is secure from mosquitoes yet fully open to the breezes. I found myself pitying the La Sirena guests, with their cloned-from-a-Best-Western rooms and squeeze-that-penny-till-it-screams philosophy! And the last two nights, when a series of storms blew in and we had to periodically close and open windows, were wonderfully dramatic and energizing. Maybe we're a little weird, but for the right type of family Iguana #5 is perfect. If we do come back to QR, it'll be to Iguana #5!

spacer Hello Marty! The condo was perfect and the spot just beautiful. Hector and the other folk at the condo were helpful and friendly (the management staff). We rented bikes and cruised around Akumal, snorkeled and hung out at the beach. Sincerely, Lucy and Eric

Review by Danish visitors

spacer Hello Carol and Marty. Hope everything is fine and that you are great in California. We have just arrived back in Denmark after a 30 hour trip all in all, from Akumal to Copenhagen, changing fligths in Dallas and London..... so a bit tired but very very happy after spending a wonderful holiday in your Akumal condo. Everything was just SO nice and fantastic at your place and we felt very blessed and lucky to have been able to make this exchange with you. Thank you! During our stay we have been snorkling a lot with the turtles, laying on the beach getting tanned and relaxed, enjoyed the local shops and restaurants, been serveral trips to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen, went to a cenote for cave snorkling, visited Cozumel at Palanca, saw the ruins in Tulum as well as the Chinchen Itza.....all in all the things you must know so very well, and are able to enjoy almost endlessly. Lucky U :)))) The condo was beautyful and Anna and Hector were very friendly and nice. Karina had brushed up her good spanish from her former 1/2 year stay in Agentina, and I fumbled my way with some of my few spanish spoken words, but Karina got a lot of good information and made very good contact with many of the locals, during our whole stay. Again Thank you very much for the exchange. Best wishes also from Vibeke and Karina Flemming

spacer Hi Marty-- Just wanted to let you know what a terrific time we had at your beautiful condo ! We are trying to recall and recreate the incredible sound of the waves and the warm breezes that never stopped blowing even though it is currently 28 degrees in Chicago! Weather in the 80s-- literally only a few drops of rain 1 day-- we snorkeled-- saw turtles, a sting ray and gorgeous fish-- had bkfst on the beach at La Lunitas and the Turtle cafe-- and did a lot of shopping-- Enjoyed Tulum and Playa Del Carmen immensely--- our kids were very helpful in interpreting-- The people were kind and gentle. Hector was especially kind and attentive--- a wonderful man. We all wanted to take him home on the plane,we even named an Iguana after him -- one that sunned himself on the house across the way every morning!

WOW!
gold stargold stargold stargold stargold star
spacer Hi Marty, WOW! What a view. LOVE YOUR CONDO! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting for our vacation than your condo. Everything was GREAT. Slept like a baby on those great beds with the sea breezes wafting over us. Anna was a treasure and took care of us wonderfully. The manager you mentioned wasn't there, but Hector, who took his place did a fine job keeping everything running smoothly. The only problem we had was a little water leak under the sink which they repaired immediately and which was really minor and didn't bother us at all. We got there pretty late on the 28th and Hector was there waiting for us and helped us get our luggage up to the condo and showed us everything. He's a good guy! Steve and Pam loved it as well. Steve arranged an afternoon trip on a 45 foot yacht through a friend of his. Really a nice boat and we fished and got three nice Barracuda which they filleted for us. We had Barracuda fish tacos and later on sauteed barracuda which we cooked in the condo. I think I've found a new favorite fish!!!! Snorkeling was great and I'll send you some really good turtle pix from Akumal bay and some other pix too when I get them sorted out. You can feel free to use them on your web site if you want to. We really enjoyed Cueva del Pescador ( their margaritas are killers ), La Buena Vida, and of course Lol Ha. We also went to Tequilaville ( used to be Lucy's 2 ) in the pueblo. Ken and Mary, the Canadian couple who own Tequilaville, are really nice people and their fish tacos are good and prices are low. We even explore a little in the pueblo and found a place for "flat chicken" which was really good and cheap and ate a couple of times at the luncheria just outside the arch. Shopped and ate in PDC a couple of times and in Tulum where we visited the ruins and went to several of their beautiful beaches to swim and have a few cervesas! Greg Peterson

We had a ball!!!

spacer Hi Marty We had a ball!! The condo was totally wonderful. The view, the beach and the staff made our stay a memorable one. We would greatly appreciate it if you would once again express our sincerest gratitude to Ana for providing outstanding service with a smile and a sense of humor. My buddy Charley, retired school superintendent and his wife, who speak little Spanish managed to converse each day with Ana in Spanglish. It was a hoot. Hector was extremely pleasant and very, very helpful. He got in touch with Marcelino who cooked a superb meal for us on our last night in Akumal. It was a great way to end our stay. There were many highlights including Snorkeling in Akumal bay and seeing some og the beautiful turtles. Watching the Super Bowl at the palapa bar on large, large screen Eating tacos al pastor at El Fogon in Playa Going to Leo's Pizzeria in Chemyl and having their fully loaded Leo's special pizza and a Negra Modelo. We also found the food inTulum Beach and Turtle Bay bakery to be quite good and very Reasonable for the quality. We followed most of your suggestions and found them right on the mark. My husband loved the bed in the Master
gold stargold stargold stargold stargold star
spacer Hola Marty! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely condo with us for our Mexican getaway. Everything in the condo was lovely. Funny you should mention the beds, because my husband absolutely LOVED the bed in the master bedroom. (and he usually doesn't comment on those sorts of things) He just loved the mattress, and was able to get some very good rest after his busy travel season. We had everything we needed and Hector and Alvar were lovely My daughter often insisted on relaxing at home (instead of going out), which meant I had to cook a lot. Fortunately, your kitchen was very well stocked and easy to cook in, but one does want a vacation some times, and it would be great to have fine local cooking right in your own home. Thank you for the tips on the area. We absolutely loved the beach in Tulum, and spent the afternoon there (ate at a scrumptious place called El Bistro--couldn't find Margaritas) after touring the ruins. My husband and kids had the best day ever out at Yal Kul lagoon (said it was the best snorkelling he'd ever done), followed by lunch at Que Onda. We also went to Coba, which was quite fascinating; and enjoyed a yummy meal at Turtle Bay. We did take out from Akumalito which was also good. The food, in general, was fabulous down there. the view was gorgeous!
gold stargold stargold stargold stargold star
spacer Marty, We had a wonderful time at your condo. The place was very nice and the view was gorgeous! It was nice, because with small kids requiring naps during the day, we didn't feel like we were wasting our time cooped up in a hotel room, with a view like you have, just relaxing indoors was a treat. We absolutely loved being able to step out our doors and go snorkeling. My husband and I saw a turtle on one of our outings and he also saw a sting ray and some squid. I know my brother and sister-in-law also enjoyed the snorkeling (we'd take turns watching each others kids during naps and go out as a couple nearly every day). The kids loved playing in the sand, the pools (though they were a bit cold due to the cold front that hit before we were there and the first few days of our trip) and playing in tide pools. Your manager was great and very accommodating. Thanks again and you are welcome to use anything I have said about our stay on your website. I will gladly recommend your place to any of my friends or family who are traveling to Mexico--we have already told many people about our wonderful vacation and the great place we stayed. Condo was perfect
gold stargold stargold stargold stargold star
spacer Marty, Sorry for not replying sooner, I've been back at work and now consumed by the holidays. We had a fantastic time in Akumal and as usual, the condo was perfect. Our friends that stayed in #7 went to all of the big ruin sites. We did our usual and sat on the beach and read and snorkeled. We became friends with Bob and Sherwood a couple of years ago and it was great to see them again too. Thanks so much. We can't wait to rent #5 again! Happy Hol's, Rob Westmore Westmore Design, PA.
