Because of recent world events, it is strongly suggested that each person have travel insurance. Volcanic ash in Iceland, British Airways strikes, extremely high winds in New York City (flights were cancelled on Mother's Day, May 2010), cause travel delays and interrupted flights. Any extra costs will be paid by the insurance company, not you! We use Travel Guard, although most credit card companies have some form of travel insurance.

 

First and foremost, this is a residential apartment, not a hotel. We are a small, family run business, doing our utmost to make sure guests are comfortable, have all services available, to help in any way. Since there are fellow residents, it is imperative our guests recognize the importance of respecting the quiet enjoyment of all tenants. And, we must reiterate, we are not a hotel.

 

PURPOSE: This apartment is for residential purposes, not commercial use. This means no large amounts of equipment are allowed.

 

REPAIRS: If something is broken or not working, please notify the owner/agent immediately.All maintenance and repairs to appliances and interior structure are the owner's responsibility. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ELECTRIC, CABLE, OR INTERNET, AND IT IS A PROBLEM THAT ORIGINATES FROM TIME WARNER OR SOME OTHER PUBLIC SERVICE, THE OWNER BEARS NO RESPONSIBILITY, IT IS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL, WE DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO CORRECT OR REPAIR, AND NO COMPENSATION WILL BE MADE BY SUITES 57. This would be a problem that travel insurance may or may not compensate for, especially in cases where internet was required for business purpose.

 

TRAVEL INSURANCE: It is strongly suggested you secure a travel insurance policy for your dates of travel. This insurance is relatively inexpensive, and in most cases provides you compensation for money lost due to airline strikes, weather conditions, lost baggage, etc.

 

SECURITY DEPOSIT: A $500 security deposit is due and will be held in addition to all other amounts. This amount must be held on a credit card and will be released to the same card within 2 weeks of departure if no theft or property damage is found. It must be on credit card and a credit card number must be provided at time of booking. This $500 security deposit will not be charged to your card, but will be run as an authorization/hold. It will be processed on the day of arrival, not at booking, and will be released after departure.

 

CANCELLATIONS: If the reservation is cancelled more than 45 days before arrival, a full refund of deposit is returned. If the reservation is cancelled between 45-10 days before arrival, 25% of the contract amount will be charged, and if the reservation is cancelled within 10 days of arrival, through no fault of Suites 57, all payments will be forfeited.

 

PETS: No pets are allowed without written approval prior to arrival.

 

SMOKING: The apartment is smoke-free. This means NO SMOKING. This is STRICTLY enforced. We have smoke alarms which register cigarette/cigar smoke. If smoking in the apartment is discovered, you will be fined $250 per day of your stay to have carpets, furniture and apartment professionally cleaned. THERE IS NO SMOKING ALLOWED.

 

KEYS: Apartment is delivered to Tenant with two (2) sets of keys. Both sets must be returned when leaving, or a charge of $50 will be made.

 

UTILITIES: Utilities are included in the rent. This includes Cable TV, local telephone use and electricity. Please turn off all lights and TVs when you leave. DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS IT IS CRITICAL THAT AIRCONDITIONERS BE TURNED DOWN OR OFF WHEN YOU LEAVE THE APARTMENT. NYC EXPERIENCES BLACK OUTS WHEN ELECTRICITY IS OVERLOADED AND THE AIRCONDITIONERS THEMSELVES BECOME LESS EFFECTIVE.
